We are so excited to begin another fun-filled year of learning, growing and exploring together. Year 2 is a very special time full of discovery, creativity and building confidence in all that we do. From exciting topics and hands-on activities to working as a team and meeting new friends – there’s so much to look forward to!
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask a staff member on the gate or via email through the school office.
In our class, the Year 2 team includes Miss Evans (class teacher), Miss Beedle and Mrs Hand (teaching assistants). We are all here to support the children every step of the way and make sure that they children find a warm and supportive environment where they feel happy.
Please ensure your child brings their reading book to school everyday, as we encourage daily reading with an adult. Their reading book is changed every Wednesday.
Every half term, we also run a ’20 reads challenge’ where children are rewarded for recording 20 home reads – there’s a special reward of their choice once they complete it!
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. To help your child be prepared, we recommend bringing their PE kit on Monday and taking it home on Friday.
We also encourage children to regularly participate in Numbots, which helps children improve their number bond fluency. If your child looses their username or password, a replacement can be requested from the school office.
We love to work in partnership with parents to help every child to ‘be the best that they can be’ and get the most from their education.
Each Friday at 3pm, we hold our ‘Love and Learn’ session. This is a special time where we invite an adult to join each child to celebrate their learning – please do your best to attend and share the experience.
You can also follow us on Twitter @TISElmClass to keep up with all the exciting activities happening in our classroom!
In Elm Class, children follow the Year 2 National Curriculum for England, which provides a broad and balanced education across subjects such as English, Math's, Science, History, Geography, Art and more. Our teaching is carefully planned to ensure pupils develop key knowledge and skills, while also nurturing their curiosity and confidence. We link all learning to our key drivers: Aspiration, encouraging children to set themselves goals and believe in themselves; Collaboration, helping them work effectively with others; and Exploration, inspiring them to ask questions, investigate and discover the world around them.
Thank you for taking the time to visit your child’s class page – your support and interest in their learning makes a real difference.
